L’hématoblaste, troisiéme élement du sang.

Paris: Presses universitaires de France, 1923.

Hayem first named the hematoblasts in 1877 (Mém. Soc. Biol. (Paris), 1877, 29, 97). His view, reiterated in 1923, was that they were the early stages of red blood cells and regenerated the blood.
